 माना जाता है कि भगवान विष्णु जब चारों धामों पर बसे अपने धामों की यात्रा पर जाते हैं तो हिमालय की ऊंची चोटियों पर बने अपने धाम बद्रीनाथ में स्नान करते हैं। पश्चिम में गुजरात के द्वारिका में वस्त्र पहनते हैं। पुरी में भोजन करते हैं और दक्षिण में रामेश्‍वरम में विश्राम करते हैं। द्वापर के बाद भगवान कृष्ण पुरी में निवास करने लगे और बन गए जग के नाथ अर्थात जगन्नाथ। पुरी का जगन्नाथ धाम चार धामों में से एक है। यहां भगवान जगन्नाथ बड़े भाई बलभद्र और बहन सुभद्रा के साथ विराजते हैं।

It is believed that when Lord Vishnu goes on a pilgrimage to his abodes situated in all the four abodes, he bathes in his abode Badrinath built on the high peaks of the Himalayas. In the west, they wear clothes in Dwarka of Gujarat. Dine at Puri and rest at Rameshwaram in the south. After Dwapar, Lord Krishna started residing in Puri and became the Nath of the world i.e. Jagannath. Jagannath Dham of Puri is one of the four Dhams. Lord Jagannath resides here with elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
